How-To: Add a Delegate to Access Your Domain

Working with a marketing agency who has requested to be added as a user within your Google ad accounts or Facebook Business Manager? Do you need to give your new marketing agency domain access so that they can take over your website maintenance? Fret not, we’re here to break it all down for you step by step in our blog series: ARK Knowledge Base: Things You May Need to Know.

How-To GoDaddy

Add a Delegate to Access Your Domain

There are many times when a web developer, designer, or marketing agency may need access to your website domain to perform the necessary actions you have hired them to do. In cases like this, you can invite a delegate (like your web designer or developer) to access the GoDaddy products in your account. Delegates can open and use your products, but they can’t view or change account information like your payment methods and passwords.

Straight from our Knowledge Base, check out the steps below for a full breakdown. It may sound a little scary at first, but we promise, you can do it!

Your Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Go to your GoDaddy Account Settings. If you’re not already logged in, you’ll be prompted to log in.

Step 2: Click Delegate Access.

Step 3: In the People who can access my account section, click Invite to Access.

Step 4: Enter the Name and Email address for the person you’re inviting. (ARK Marketing: marketing@arkbsc.com)

Step 5: Select the access level: Products, Domains, & Purchase

Step 6: Click Invite. GoDaddy will send the person an email invitation to access your account. Once the person accepts, GoDaddy will let you know. That’s it!

Note: Looking to assign delegate access for your domains? Change your domain delegate folder permissions. Each access level grants delegates permission to manage your domain names. Restrict their access further by limiting which actions can be taken on domains in a specific folder.

Security Alert: Two-Factor Authentication

GoDaddy has implemented two-factor authentication for added security. If your account requires it, be prepared to complete a few extra steps in the security process when inviting a delegate. This is an important step in ensuring your account remains secure while giving the necessary access to your marketing team or web developer.
