The only way to get, or keep, your Google Business Profile in the public eye is to make sure it is verified. Verification usually happens right after you create your business profile, but sometimes Google may need you to reverify your business later on. Some of the things that can trigger the need for reverification are changing your business name, address, phone number, or updating your profile too frequently.
In the past, Google has allowed for phone, email, and post card verification. However, Google is moving away from these options and now mainly requires a video verification as your only option. Video verification is for businesses with a physical storefront, service providers without a physical location, or hybrid businesses. This can definitely seem like a tedious and annoying task, but we’re here to help walk you through it!
Your Step-by-Step Guide
Video verification for your Google Business Profile
Step 1: On your mobile device, go to your Business Profile. Learn how to find your profile. Video verification can only be done on a mobile device, so if you start verification on a computer, to continue on your mobile device, you can scan a QR code that will be provided to you.
Step 2: Tap Get verified and then Capture video.
Step 3: Tap start recording. Make sure you know what things will need to be included in your video in advance.*
Step 4: Follow any prompts from your phone. You could be asked to allow access to your camera and microphone. Follow the
on-screen instructions to continue.
Step 5: Tap Stop recording and then Upload video.
Step 6: Wait for review. This process may take up to 5 business days, so keep checking back in to make sure your profile becomes verified. If the video does not get approved by Google, you will need to repeat this process over again until your video is approved and your Google Business Profile becomes verified.
